Biography:
I studied in my early years with John (Jack) Coldwell at the GREATER FALL RIVER ART ASSOCIATION.  Mr. Coldwell taught me the principles of oil painting and gave me a foundation to build upon as I continued learning through the practice of painting  over the last 30+ yrs.
I give credit to the late Mr. Coldwell who taught me how to SEE.
That was the greatest lesson and gift.
My favorite Masters  who have influenced me most ...Hopper, Sargent, Henri, Vermeer ... and my contemporary favorites whose work I  love to follow,  Micki Acierno, Daniel G. Massad and Thomas Buschner included.
I fell in love with Oil Paint and everything about oil paint... and the paint has taught me many things on its own.
It is my medium of choice, first, last and always, while as I admire all the other mediums.
Still life, as a genre, is a personal favorite of mine...even while I am continually inspired by the life in animal form.
I have had work in many exhibits, juried and invitationals.
I paint first for myself and to learn something new with each piece and continue that practice today.
My work has been acknowleged in a variety of published articles, news and magazines.
My paintings have been chosen and published as cover art several times.
I have challenged myself with subject matter and project size. The largest oil I have painted was 8 ft x 13ft and smallest 2.5 in. x 3.5 in.  each difficult in their own way...but fun!
Several years ago I joined together my deep and abidding love of animals with my love of painting.
In 2004 I began painting  work  especially for animal charity, and while working on my own, I found great satisfaction of making art practical.
In 2006 I joined  with a fellowship of artists committed to providing art for sale to assist very needy and homeless animals. The accomplished artist, Stella Violano, leads this fellowship.
In our second year ART HELPING ANIMALS is providing ongoing financial support to charities across the country. As a group, we  donated over 20,000.00 in our first year from a percentage of our work. As of May 2008 we have now donated over 46,000.00
As a fellowship of dedicated professional artists, we have been featured in Best Friends Society Magazine for our contribution to helping homeless animals.
Art Helping Animals also features our art on the web site and in a daily art Blog of fresh new art available from our members.
As individual professional artists, we also maintain our own web sites supporting our work.
Small original studies  are done for  rescues and animal charities. The work is  always sold to help those who care for some of the most desperate animals.  My work has now been collected around the globe.
I am gratified more than I can say.
Clients have become friends.
My work has been purchased and enjoyed by many who appreciate how ART can help and be, not only beautiful, but practical in that way of being more than itself.
Statement:
Art is more than itself.  At least it should be... transcending and transforming. That is my belief and my passion.
New work is on-going.
"First Look"  is my ART BLOG ...the link is found on the NAV bar.
